BIO
Priscilla received a B. A. degree from Stanford University majoring in fine art and art history. She was privileged to take studio classes from many professors who were also well known artists. The art curriculum was traditionally based. Her career in the art world has taken her from interior designer to furniture restorer and painter to, in the last few years, developing her two dimensional art pieces. Now living in Texas, she finds her home base in the Texas Hill Country to be an ever-changing wonder and inspiration.
ARTIST STATEMENT
The patterns and textures found in nature as well as flowers, leaves, trees, birds, vistas, and cityscapes make me happy and inspire me and that’s what I paint. In my work I try to capture these elements to bring beauty and interest to whatever support I am using usually canvas, paper, or cradled wood.
My paintings are multi-layered, and I like the fast-drying property of the acrylic medium as it gives me the opportunity to paint the layers quickly. I also use many other types of media including inks, oil pastels, paint pens, colored pencils, collage elements, etc. I start a painting by mark making, and mark making is used throughout the process of a painting as I add layers. These marks may or may not emerge in the final layer. Tools of all kinds are used to apply the paint from brushes to palette knives, sticks, my fingers, and anything else I have at hand depending upon what I am trying to achieve. My paintings range in style from expressive to abstract.
